Apple has recently reached a statistic that displays the extent of revolution that the iPhone brought upon us. On its recent Q3 earnings call, the Apple CEO Tim Cook declared that the company has now shipped 3 billion iPhones.
To give some perspective on that: in 1960, the world did have about 3 billion people. iPhones are now that many in the world and they are being used by people in all forms of communication and even creative instances.
One to 3 Billion iPhones: A Quick Look Back
In 2007, the first iPhone came out and it forever transformed how we view phones. In 2016, Apple reached 1 billion sold units, in 2020 it reached 2 billion and now after only four years, they have reached 3 billion sold units.
This elevated expansion aided in driving the Q3 revenue at Apple up to 94 billion which was a 10 percent lift over the exact period of time the previous year. iPhone sales have exhibited healthy double-digit growth, according to the company, which is indicative of the fact that the iPhone remains very popular even 17 years on, with demand remaining high.

Not All Smooth Sailing: Tariffs and Costs
Although the sales win was very big, Apple experienced some big challenges as well. During the last quarter, the tariffs have cost the company 800 million. And the following quarter is not going to be an easy one, as the expected cost is supposed to be higher- at $1.1 billion.
These international trade problems serve as a reminder that even the largest technological giants cannot afford to be victims of the changing international policy.
Apple Eyes the Future with AI
As well as celebrating success in the past, Apple is focusing on the future, in particular AI. Tim Cook has divulged that the company is heavily investing in artificial intelligence, and they can even make some acquisitions in order to enhance their AI abilities.
As technology shifts towards AI, it is obvious that Apple is preparing due to the upcoming competition.
