While the UN has not identified who was responsible for the attack, reports suggest that paramilitary forces may be preparing to launch an offensive in the region. This incident underscores how violence continues to expand beyond the capital, Khartoum, spreading fear and instability throughout Sudan.
A Country in Deep Crisis
Sudan has been gripped by a brutal war since April 2023, when tensions between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted into full-scale fighting. What began as a struggle for political control has evolved into one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters.
The United Nations and international humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of catastrophic consequences as the conflict spreads to new regions, including Kordofan and Darfur.
